Land Rover Repair: Fuel Gauge, fuel gauge, fuel light

Question
I have A discovery 93, the fuel gauge is not working correctly with never going pass a 1/4 full after tank has been filled to top often fuel light will remain on with gauge reading empty, can this be fixed / replace easily?

Answer
The cure is probably a new fuel pump module.  That includes the sender for the gauge.  On rare occasions the gaueges themselves fail but 90% of the time this situation is caused my a bad sender.  If you wanted to be sure, you could take the workshop manual and go through the tests they outline.
