Land Rover Repair: 96 Land Rover Discovery SD stuck in park, land rover discovery, brake switch
QuestionHello John,
I'm having an issue with my Discovery not wanting to come out of park... I can start my engine just fine, but it doesn't want to go anywhere... my brake lights don't work, so I checked the fuse and it looked fine, but I changed it anyway, still no brake lights... so I pulled the brake switch out and tried jumping the 2 wires on the plug, still no brake lights. What do you recommend I try next?
AnswerHi Corey,
clearly the brake switch has to be replaced. Two possible causes of being stuck in park are a faulty brake switch and a faulty Park/Neutral switch on the shifter.
Check the brake bulbholders for corrosion. This may also be why your brake lights are not working.
Best of luck,
