Land Rover Repair: Land Rover Disco 2000, disco 2000, gunk

Well i took the land rover through a misjudged puddle and got stuck really bad..To be honest, it was more like a pond. When a truck with a winch finally pulled me out I noticed that it is stuck in low on the AWD. The gear stick simply wont budge out of low. Also, when i start the car i quickly have to put it into a gear or else it will stay locked in Park. Am I looking at some hefty repairs? I thought a land rover could hold its breath for awhile.

Being stuck in L may be a jammed linkage, look for gunk stuck in the linkage from below.

Being stuck in P sounds like electrical problems, unfortunately VERY hard to diagnose.
