QuestionI just bought a 2001 Range Rover 4.6 HSE with 88k miles and I have no previous history on it.
First I got
P0303
P1319
P0301B
P0302
P1300
and I know
P0303 - Misfire in cylinder 3
P1319 - Misfire detected with low fuel level
P0301B - P0301 would be misfire cylinder 1
P0302 - Misfire detected cylinder 2
P1300 - Random/Multiple cylinder misfire; catalyst damaging level of misfire on multiple cylinders
I did some investigating and one of my coils wasnt giving a spark so I replaced it and reset the codes.
After replacing the coil I Drove it 4 miles and I get the codes
P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2)
Cleared it and drove another 5 miles and got P0734.
I cleaned the MAFS sensor 5 times and every 10-20 miles that same P0734 code and nothing else.
Plugs and Wires have been changed on this car. I checked for vacuum and exhaust leaks and found nothing.
Anything else I can troubleshoot or is the MAFS officially dead?
AnswerHi Max,
yes, its probably your MAF. I've read recently that cleaning can even do more harm than good. One owner reported that he cleaned his MAF and it never worked properly again.
Another owner reported similar codes as yours (even the P0734) and found it was the MAF. I'm not absolutely sure how the MAF affected the transmission other than a mistake diagnosis but actually the ignition was the true cause.
Replace the MAF and see what happens. Would be nice if LR would allow this to verify if the MAF was actually the true cause. If it worked - your problem is fixed. IF it does not, they look deeper into the diagnostics.
Best of luck,
