Land Rover Repair: 98 Disco problem starting, fuel pressure, fuel injector
QuestionMy disco will turn over just fine but while cold I need to try to start it about 3 times before it will go. When it engages, it will sputter for just a second and then take off and run fine. I have changed the fuel filter I have changed plugs and wires I have put fuel injector cleaner in it and I still have the problem. When started it runs fine and when I hit the gas I get plenty of response. After it has been ran for awhile it will start right up but if I let it sit for longer than 10 min. I have the same problem. What could it be?
AnswerThe truck may be losing fuel pressure. Have a shop hook a fuel pressure to the gauge and watch what happens when you shut the engine off. If the pressure drops to zero, you have a leak in the fuel pump or the pressure regulator or the injectors.
Pressure should hold about 20PSI even after a few hours
