Question2002 V6 gasoline,Freelander. Goes into Rovers classic "Life Saver Mode" or Limp Home Mode, consistently above 3K RPM / 67 - 72 MPH. Vehicle restart cures problem until it next exceeds 3000 RPM. At 2700 - 2800 RPM has never happened. A friend accessed engine codes 1471 & 1472, could these have a bearing on problem. Thank you!
AnswerHi Ward,
could be a number of things; cam shaft position sensor, fuel pump, O2 sensors, even VSS (vehicle speed sensor). The code you mention states:
P1471 Land Rover Variable inlet manifold motor 1.Short circuit to V Batt. (vehicle battery?).
P1472 Land Rover Variable inlet manifold motor 2.Short circuit to V Batt.
I suspect it could be an electrical short with one of the sensors. Someone suggested you have your fuel pressure checked.
I hope this helps.
