QuestionHello there, I have read ALOT of your questions and answers and seek your specific advice.
My Disco II sat for a few moonths and the battery drained.
Looking to get it fired up (no previous problems) I crahged the battery overnight.
Dumbly, I did not check the battery fluid (it was near empty) and I turned the starter up to jump level and turned the key.
My friend, I cooked something.
I have dash lights that light up as a normal starting procedure, engine will not turn, dome lights are ok, windows and seats and such will not work, odometer flashes.
I am certain I shorted something out, preliminary examinations show no blown fuses (I just checked the semi-opaque colored ones under the hood, passenger seat and driver's foot area).
I want to trace this error out and get it started. What would be the best approach to take? Can I check those big yellow square fuses found under the hood in the fusebox? What would be the method of doing that?
How can I go through a process of elimination on this?
Thanks for looking at this :)
Leif
AnswerThe yellow squares are relays, not fuses. On an older vehicle I would say remove all but the needed fuses and see if it will run, I don't know what this would do to a LR though. I suppose you can't really damage more, but I do not know.
Most likely the damage (if any) is in the main circuitry, battery cables, ground-straps etc. There may also be a blown fuse that doesn't "look" blown, check them all with a mulit-meter, particularly the ones for things that don't work.
