QuestionQUESTION: My RR has been throwing this code on and off for over a year now and I had my fuel pump which houses the sensor replaced and the code is still being thrown. I need to DEQ my vehicle and my LR shop can't seem to help me. No other codes have come up. Any ideas?
ANSWER: That code points to a problem with your evaporative control system. The only tester I know that has routines to check this system is the dealer's t4. You may need a skilled dealer or independent who has this tool and knows how to use it.
The code is specifically pointing to a failure of a sensor that integrated into the fuel pump module but I would not jump to the conclusion that it is bad - it may simply be signalling a pressure problem.

QUESTION: It was checked by dealer and they are stumped. Originally it was throwing p0453 (high)then it was 0452(low). There have never been any other codes thrown. So we have a new sensor and it still is not fixed. Could it be pressure regulator or maybe charcoal cannister? They are suggesting a 1600$ ecu but they aren't sure that will fix it either . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
AnswerI do not think the pressure regulator or cannister will have anything to do with that. The ECU? Maybe. You have a tough decision to make, to look for another shop or take a shot on this one.
I cannot advise you any better without seeing the truck, but I will say the ECU is a possibility, and there are no obvious answers. There are just tests or guesses. At $100+ per hour, you could spend the cost of the ECU in testing.
