Land Rover Repair: Range Rover P38 1996 Immobilised, mechanical key, lockset
QuestionHello John, I am hoping you can assist me. I own a 1996 2.5DSE Range Rover. Approx 4 weeks ago I lost my only remote key fob. I do have a mechanical key. I have not been able to start the car for four weeks. The dash display states <engine disabled press remote or EKA>. I visited Williams Range Rover in Manchester for disclosure of EKA..THey advised me they cannot disclose this information due to my vehicle being a Q plate. They also said I will need a complete new lockset which costs three figures. What options are open to me? Can I have this alarm immobiliser completely disabled?
AnswerWhat's a Q plate? Sorry - I live on the other side of the pond and we don't have that 'status' here.
Entrance and starting security is very important and I doubt anyone would post this on the internet. You never know who's reading this.
As far as removing the immobiliser, I never heard of anyone doing this.
Regards,
JohnMc
