Land Rover Repair: discovery II overheating service engine soon light, obd ii scan tool, engine compartment
QuestionHello, I have owned my disco for about 1.5 months. I recently had the car run into the red during a short drive. I immediately pulled over, turned on the heat full blast and let the car idle till it cooled down. I was only a block form home so I drove her home. the next morning I saw that the collant was low so I drove it s to the auto parts store less than a mile from my house and it ran hotter than normal. I added the correct fluid, but a little fluid dribble near the into the engine compartment as I had no funnel. she ran beautifully for 30 minutes to work then the engine light went off just as I pulled in. I am wondering if the fluid dripped into something to cause the light to go off or if there is something else. Thans=ks
AnswerI doubt is spilled fluid from filling your Rover put the light on. But it may have come on as a result of the overheating setting a fault code. Have a shop with an OBD II scan tool check it out.
The next thing to address is - where did the coolant go?
Have the truck pressure tested, hot and cold if necessary, and see where it's leaking
