Hi, what are the common areas of wear on a 2.5 normally aspirated
diesel, my engine has done 133,000kms and is very noisey till its
really warmed up. If I take the head of I'm not sure that as a novice
I will recognise the wear.

I have a 2.5 military diesel myself.  It's a rugged motor. They should not have any wear at 133,000 km.

They are all noisy till they warm up.  Try having the injectors cleaned and make sure your valve adjustment is correct.

I'd suggest cleaning your injectors adn adjusting valves. I would not remove the head.
