Questionwe just purchased a 2001 land rover discovery series II se. we were not given the security code for the radio. the local dealership said we should have a sticker in the car with the code on it, or we could wait until the service dept opens up and they could help us. unfortunately, that wont be for 2 days.
where is this sticker ? does it exist ?
AnswerHi Heather,
when I purchased our Disco, there was a security code on a sticker within the owners manual. I did not want to peel this sticker off and place it within the Disco for fear that a thief would be looking for it. So, I placed the sticker in a secure place in our home. Some owners think otherwise.
If it's not within the owner's manual, you'll have to wait until the dealership opens. For security reasons I normally don't make suggestions that could compromise the security of any LandRover vehicle. Someone once asked how to by-pass the security code...uh...how do I know this is guy was not a thief who just wanted to activate the radio he just stole? As a new owner, I'm sure you understand.
IF it's just a couple of days for your dealer, please be patient. Once you have the code, make sure to place it in a secure place (not beside the radio!).
Lastly, give your new LR a name! It's a long-standing tradition to name your LR. Mine's Simba. One owner I know calls his 2003 Disco "Spot" as it always seems to mark it's territory with a tiny drop of oil. :)
