Question1997 land rover discovery 4.0L petrol
how do I remove brake pads and install new one.
thank you
AnswerHi Fred,
replacing your brake pads is simple:
buy and install pads in pairs, never just one wheel;
remove wheel to expose caliper;
pads are held in with large pins that must be removed - it is advised to replace these pins;
pads should pull out easily from either side of rotor disc;
If pad does not freely move, it could be due to a seized brake caliper piston. You'll have to free this buy using a piston spreader;
refit is reversal of removal.
One of the simplier jobs on a Disco.
