Land Rover Repair: Discovery Remote Starter, remote car starter, authorization system

Hi, I have a 2000 Disco SII, just wondering if a remote car starter (good for the winters) would cause a problem with the Disco in anyway, would you recommend it? A certain brand name?

For most 2000 Land Rovers in most countries, remote start won't work if the car is locked because of the drive authorization system.

If the car is unlocked in a secure place it will work OK.

Personally, I do not recommend them because all too often the installation is sloppy and that causes problems, or the componetns fail, which causes problems.  Furthermore, if someone pushes a button and the car starts when it should not you can have huge problems.
