Land Rover Repair: 1994 discovrey electrics, starter solenoid, discovrey

hi, i have a 1994 discovery commercial 300tdi. i have a problem with the electrics that is very annoying. everthing (lights, wipers etc) works fine but starting is sometimes a problem. when the problem happens the battery seems to drain (even when the engine is off and no electrics are on) and when you start there is a clicking noise the noise seems to come from the dash though (the starter solenoid clicks aswell when the battery is flat though) i have heard something about this being part of the security system ('spider' or something) would this be the problem?

I don't think so, because spider system wasn't mounted into early models. I think it can be the starter relay, or if It's automatic transmissioned maybe the ignition.
Or the starters solenoid can be inoperable too.
You can check if you give a positive lead to the starter's solenoid. If It's start fine every time when you tried, the I think the starter relay will be burnt.
