Land Rover Repair: Range Rover Door Locks, range rover p38, door locks
QuestionI have a 1998 Range Rover P38 and the front door locks do not work from the remote control. The back doors work fine and all doors work if the key is used.
I had this problem about a year ago and a local garage replaced both door locks and the receiver unit - Is it a case of replacing the locks again or should I be looking at another fault?
Thanks
Steve
AnswerIf the back door locks work fine that means you have a problem in the BECM - the $1,100 control under the passenger seat - or the individual door latches are bad ($225 each).
If possible you should seek out a shop with the Land Rover test system. They can operate each of the four door locks individually and verify which part you need.
If I had to guess I'd go for the door latches but it could be either one.
