Land Rover Repair: Fan removal, tensioner pulley, plastic blades

Question
Hi I need to ghange my belt and tensioner pulley, But I cant seem to get the fan out I have been trying to use a large cresent wrench. The wrench fits without slipping but when I turn on it the pulley turns with me Im not sure how to hold back on it so I can loosen the fan nut.What am I overlooking?
Thanks in advance for any ideas and info.

Hi James,

you've got it right.  Use a large screwdriver or something to prevent movement as you undo that nut.  Obviously, its been torqued tight over time.  At least that's how I remove mine.  Careful not to put something between the plastic blades...they are brittle and can snap off easily.
