Land Rover Repair: Door open light, auto electrician, door latch

This is another question related to the same car, 96 RR 4.6, my computer reads "Open Door RH-R" all the time even when the door is closed, and I do check it is closed, as a result the interior light will not go off, what should I check first.

Hi Igor,

the only thing I can think of is that the rear door latch is sending a false signal to the multifunction unit.  The door actuator may also be failing.  This is an area that is very difficult to diagnose.  

A LR dealer can pinpoint the problem much faster than you or I.  I doubt very much that you can see any problem and that it has to be serviced by an auto electrician who understands Land Rover Rangies.

NB:  if your light is remaining on, you could pull the fuse and thus not worry about the battery draining...a simple fix UNTIL you have the Rangie serviced by LR.
