1998 DISCO 1. NEED TO REPLACE SHIFT FILM, TORN AROUND EDGES OF SHIFT LEVER, DOESN'T INDICATE PROPER GEAR. DO I HAVE TO REMOVE THE WHOLE CENTER CONSOLE? TECH GUIDE IS LITTLE HELP.

Hi Mike,

sorry for the delay...winter conditions here and I've had an accident with my Disco.  Throws a wrench into my schedule.

Have you tried http://www.discoweb.org or www.disco2.com for online technical instructions?  I'll check out my Haynes manual and send a followup with some more detail.

I don't suspect the entire console has to be dismantled, just the lever cover...unless you have a more serious problem with gear selection adjustment.

I'll get some more info and write you back in one (1) day from now.
