QuestionSir, I have recently purchased a used Lexus with 275,000 miles. Beautiful car, but it seems to be having problems with similar simtoms of a Catlyetic Converter, it is a CA car, but it isn't overheating. It is like I am trying to accelerate with the brake applied. It may be something with the traction control, but when I turn the traction control switch off it gets even worse, I had a hard time just backing it back into the driveway. Please reply.
Thanx Lyle

AnswerClean your idle valve, EGR valve & throttle plate. Make sure the tract control, etc, it's sticcking the plate closed.
Obviously, make sure your brakes aint dragging! LoL!
Is the transmission slipping?
Warm the engine up & check the compression / leak-down test.
Check the plugs, distributor caps & rotors, wires (Only use NGK, or Denso plugs... Ever...)
Make sure the right amoutn of fuel is being injected.
And check the ignition & cam timing.
If you're worried about the cat, buy you a larger highflow cat Carsound (Magnaflow) cat off the itnernet. have someone weld it in your exhaust.
Learn something ever day. I didn't realize the 91 LS had trac.
