Lexus Repair: 92 sc400, temp gauge, toyota service

Question
My 400 recently overheated and the radiator bust open at the top, I have had my radiator and thermostat changed, but every so often when I am sitting at a light my temp gauge will start creeping up towards the hot mark.  But once I take off the gauge will go back to normal?  I was told that the cause could be a freeze plug, does this sound right?  If not what should I do??

Hello Tyjanna,
 Did you check your fan? Make sure it spin fast enough.  Also there could be an air pocket in the system.  I would take it to a Lexus specialist. Thank you.
