Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 1993 mercury tracer timing belt, 1993 mercury tracer, spark plug wire

I was idling in bank drive thru belt broke, we have changed the belt but the car still wont start. Made sure #1 was TDC, aligned both upper an lower marks, installed new belt , and still nothing. Is the timing still off? Or what do I need to do or check? It tries to turn over the same as when the belt broke an the car wouldnt start.

Hi Terri,

Ok, well first we need to see if we have spark. Remove a spark plug wire and hold it nest to something metal while someone cranks the engine. Another trick diagnosing is to remove the distributor cap and watch the rotor to make sure it turns. Let me know in a resubmit what you found.
