Lincoln/Mercury Repair: hestitation, mercury tracer, 1994 mercury tracer

Question
I have a 1994 Mercury Tracer w/approx 160k miles on it.  I have had it about 2 years w/no major problems. I have only had the timing belt changed and keep up maintenance on a regular basis. In the last 2 weeks my car has begun to hestitate sporadically when I accelerate and it makes a rattling noise when it idles.  I had a diagnostic done and he said that I need a new motor.  I am a little skeptical and am just looking for a 2nd opinion.  Thanks in advance.

what does he meam you need a new motor ask him why do you have a rod knocking what codes did he bring up u get a good tune up on that motor and i bet you it will be allright . let me know what u find from this mech. ok hun and u have a pretty name please rate my serivice pete
