Mazda Repair: side door mirror, plastic bracket, heating element

My side door mirror was hit (my fault) - the glass is fine, the electric is fine, the black plastic case dangles - I must have broken some kind of plastic bracket.  I see how to take it off and feel comfortable replacing it.  I will buy a new mirror, but my question is: how do I determine if it is heated or not? (I bought this vehicle used)

Well, you have two options...
A: smash/pry out the old mirror and determine if it has a heating element attached to the back.

B: count the wires in the harness coming out of the mirror and ask the parts provider to verify which mirror has the same number as your mirror.
