Mazda Repair: tranmission, rust buckets, car rust

I have a 92 mazda protege I need to find an automatic tranmission for it and my question is will  a mazda 626 trans work or any other mazda in the same three years work for it or does it have to be an protege

No, a 626 will not fit. Get a protégé one; they are not hard to come across. You simply must look for that or a whole car. Rust buckets make good donor cars!
