This morning I was a little more brave and I pushed the blade down and with a
creek it settled back onto the windshield. So my problem is over.
I thought there would be some kind of release mechanism but I guess nost.

Answer This probable happened when either replacing a wiper , washing the car of something like that . Someone raised the arm . lube the mechanism. Also the next time there is a cover in the center. black plastic . it pulls out to access a 5mm allen remove the arm to ply it back into place. This prevents the windshield from cracking
