Mercedes Benz repair: 190E wont start, new distributor cap, benz 190e

I bought a benz 190e 1986. It has not run for couple yrs. I installed a new battery. The engine rotates but wont start. Bought a new distributor cap along w/ the rotor. How do change the rotor and why it wont start?
