Question1985, Mercedes, 380SL, 39000, New York, NY
I know very little about this car as I just purchased it and have had it for about a month. The problems: With the heat&A/C controls set to off (not auto) heat comes out the vents? A/C worked until a couple of days ago when A/C clutch (front of the A/C compressor) caught fire while the A/C set to? Put it out quickly with some water. Looks like the front of the assembly burned. I don't know why it caught fire or what to check for the cause. I don’t think the heat damaged the compressor, except for the clutch and I cut off the belt to be on the safe side. Its summer and I could do without the A/C for now but having heat come out of the vents is very uncomfortable. What should I do?

AnswerYour mono valve diaphragm is broken.
The unit is attached to the fire wall in the engine compartment.
