QuestionI have a 1985 300D with a late 70's engine in it. I bought this car 5 years ago this way - not knowing what I got and not knowing the mangled mess that it created (In serveral ways). Starting the car has always been a challenge. I live in North-East Indiana. Any tempatures below 40 deg, I have to plug the thing in. The glow plug system has the newer style controller but going to the old loop style glow plugs (in series). All the wires coming out of the controller are spliced together at the one end and go to cylinder #5. Is there any kind of a conversion available to go from the larger threaded glow plugs (loop type) to the newer (and smaller threaded) pencil type so that I can wire them in parallel and individually ? Or is there a way to wire the existing plugs individually and/or in parallel ?
AnswerYour system has been butchered, it must be restored.
