QuestionI just purchased an 83 300D turbo, and it has a serious
vibration, but only when idling. If I give it even a tiny bit of gas,
the vibration goes completely away. There is no sign of the
vibration at high speed either.
I was told by the seller that the problem is the rubber bushing
on the motor mount, and that I could do the repair myself. Does
this sound right? I can spin a wrench, but I've never worked on a
Benz.
Can I get the part online? If so, what's it called?
Thanks so much,
RSCarey
AnswerReplace the engine mounts, if the rubber fails, the engine mount arm contacts the mount shell = body = bad noise.

Check the three rubber isolator mounts on your air cleaner housing, if any are broken, this is the time to order new ones.
