MG Car Repair: broken hood / bonnet release cable, car ramp, mg midget

HELP !!!!How do I open my hood on my 1963 MG Midget after the hood release cable broke??? I need to get into the engine compartment.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank You. Hap

Hi Hap.  This is a nasty problem.  There is no easy answer.  You have got to operate the lever located immediately behind the hood catch.  I would start by putting the vehicle on a car ramp or over a pit.  It may be possible to operate the lever from underneath the vehicle using a long piece of timber such as a broom handle.  Good Luck!
