AnswerHi Mike,
You need to run two tests. Both need to be run until the failure. One is a intake manifold vacuum test. The other is a fuel pressure test. Most vacuum gauges have a small section for fuel pressure so you can alternate the same gauge for both tests. (be sure to put clamps on the hose connections when running the fuel pressure test.) Get a "T" and put it in the hose right at the carburetor and run the hose out from under the hood and put the gauge under a wiper arm so you can monitor the pressure while driving. You may need to put a extended hose on the gauge.
Do the same when running the intake vacuum test.
let me know what readings you get when the car starts to fail then I will give you the next tests.
