QuestionQUESTION: I just purchased a 1979 mgb I know nothing about this engine. The question I have is where is the air filter located
ANSWER: Hi Dominick.
Here is a blown-up diagram of the air filter system on am MGB. Copy this to your browser:

Since you are not familiar with this engine, I recommend that you purchase an owner's handbook, which should tell you all you need to know about regular maintenance. They are available from Moss Motors in the USA.
If you do not live in the USA, get back to me. The European air filter system is different.

QUESTION: Hi thanks for the info. Yes I live in the US. Under the drivers dash there is a rod like lever on the right of the driver near the console. What is it?
AnswerThe lever protruding behing the console operates a fresh air flap. Pull it towards you to open the flap, which then allows cold air onto your knees. Push it away from you to close it. If it has not been used for a long time, the hinges may be rusted, so do not force it. I remember one that came off in my hand when I tried to use it.
