QUESTION: i have a 1997 mitsubishi verada & my speedometre dial is not moving what is the problem ?

ANSWER: Wal,
You may have a bad speed sensor.  The speed sensor sending unit is typically connected to transmission.  Try replacing that an see if that fixes your problem.

On your specific vehicle and year, I'm not sure.  But typically there are just a few wires that even connect to the transmission housing.  You'll see a thing cable that connections to a plastic housing attached to the transmission, usually held on by 2-4 screws or small bolts.  For most specifics, you should reference a service manual or search for article online.
