Mitsubishi Repair: 1990 pajero 3.0 v6, water loss, water pump

i have a 1990 pajero 3.0,v6 auto its been starting to use alot of water and has a loud noise coming from behind the pulleys would it be my water pump ?

Water loss and whining can definitely indicate water pump failure.  Best to get that addressed as soon as possible since once the water pump goes completely, your engine will overheat and make any repairs much more expensive.  And if it's been more than 100,000km since you last got your timing belt replaced, this would be a good time to do so if you need to replace the water pump.
