Mitsubishi Repair: 2003 Mitsubishi Diamonte Automatic, mitsubishi diamonte, drive belts
QuestionTwo items to ask: 1. First thing in the morning when I am turning the steering wheel to get out of my parking spot, there is a terrible squealing. Once I start moving there is no squeal on turning. 2. This started today, When I accelerate and the auto transmission is shifting to second gear the car lurches from the rear, it is a jerk. It is very nerve racking, waiting for the jerk to come. It has only occurred on that first shift so far, about 30-40 mph.
AnswerJulie,
Your first problem sounds pretty simple. It sounds like your power steering belt is slipping. For that I would recommend you have mechanic inspect and replace your power steering belt. Be sure they inspect your other drive belts as well.
For your second problem, that may be a bit more involved. You'll want a mechanic to inspect your transmission. You may need to have your transmission fluid changed and the transmission filter replaced. That's a regular maintenance task that should be done based on the schedule you can see in your owners manual.
Good luck!
