Mitsubishi Repair: vr4 engine, leak down test, lifter
Questionso i was working on changing my spark plugs in my 3000 gt vr4. i removed the intake like i have to and heard a washer fall down i didnt know if it went into a cylinder or not. so when i put it back together and started it it was making a lil knocking noise and had no compression to stay started.. the noise would go away for a minute and come back. so when i took it to the shop they looked in all the cylinders and found nothing. they asked if it could be a lifter but my oil pressure is fine and all so im lost and dont know what it could be.
AnswerShawn,
I don't think it would be a lifter issue. You wouldn't loose compression if you had a stuck or clogged lifter. If there is still no compression, then you mechanic should do a leak-down test. This diagnostic test will help determine where the compression leak is and what could be causing it.
Good luck!
