Mitsubishi Repair: Mitisubishi theft-alarm system, remote start, remote starter
QuestionA 2001 Gallant has a theft-alarm system. I have installed a remote start after market system. However, the theft-protection stops it from cranking the auto. If I have the keys in the off position or any other position, run, accessories, etc. The car starts. How do I disable the theft-protection system?
Thanks,
David
AnswerDavid,
Your Galant most likely has a transponder anti-theft system, which requires a bypass module and extra key. Your remote starter instructions should have indicated that based on your car. The manufacturer of your remote start should also sell a bypass module. You'll also need to make sure you have an extra key that you can permanently use for the module.
Good luck!
