Mitsubishi Repair: 1989 Colt Gearbox, happy new year, buggered

G'day

got a 1989 colt

when i start the car it will go into gear and let me drive for as long as i need to, when i stop the and then later when i go back to start it and put into gear it wont go anywhere,is my gearbox buggered or does it need oil?,

Shane: I am going to think that this is an automatic, if so you need to change the fluid and filter, the filter would be on the bottom of the transmission, but first you need to drain out all the old fluid. Then put in a new filter, new fluid and add a bit of transmission conditioner as it would help clean and get things working again. Have you ever did this to this car? Please don't put this off or you will mess up the transmission. So try that and see how much that helps with your problems. Getting a repair manual would be good start too, as that would help fix things in your car. Other wise take the car to a shop. Hope this helps and Happy New Year! Linda
