Mitsubishi Repair: automatic transmision problem, mitsubishi montero, montero

Hi:
I have a Mitsubishi Montero 1991 that the reverse some times don't apply. My question is if the computer regulate the automatic transmission? If no, you have any idea?

Peter: Yes the computer does control the transmission. But have you tried changing the fluid, filter and adding a transmission conditioner? Have you had the car coded to see if the computer might kick out any problems with any of the sensors in the car? Still I would try changing that fluid, filter and then you can pick up some transmission conditioner at any parts store and sometimes that will do the trick on these problems. If not then have the car coded and see what the computer tells you. Hope this helps and God Bless. Linda
