AnswerMatthew,
I would highly recommend you get a service manual for your car. Both Haynes and Chiltons make a service manual that can help with the installation. They are usually available at any major auto store. Replacing the belts are easy. It's the compressor that a bit tougher. You'll need to first drain the freon out of the system. The A/C lines should be fully evacuated and filled after the compressor is replaced. This is best to be left done by a mechanic. As for the "clanking noise", it may be your blower motor. That's not something that easy at all to replace. You'll want to have a mechanic take a look to properly diagnose it.
Good luck!
