Mitsubishi Repair: 98 Montero Sport, montero sport, shift linkage
QuestionI have a 98 Montero Sport V6 automatic. A few days ago when the weather was real cold the shift was making a clicking noise when moving it from park to reverse and reverse to drive. Today I put it in park while in line at a bank and when I put it back in drive it would not drive. I tried it a number of times and it stayed in park with the shift in drive. I turned the vehicle off and restarted it and it worked fine after that. Do you know what this means? I am afraid to drive it now because I don't want to have to get towed if I get stuck somewhere in park. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!
AnswerLB:First off I would take it to a shop, have them change the fluid and the filter; maybe I should ask when is the last time your check the fluid? Could be your shift linkage needs to be adjusted too. Either way, you should take it to a shop and let them check it out. But getting the fluid and filter changed would help a lot. And then see what else they might think you need. Hope this helps and good luck!
