Mitsubishi Repair: Crank Pulley Replacement, oem specs, decent shape
QuestionDear Sir, I own a 1994 Eclispe GS DOHC 2.0. My Crank Pulley Broke and I was woundering what I can expect to pay to get it replaced. I can obtain a pulley for around $65.00. I don't want to use one from the junkyard but would like your advice on this work. Thanks
AnswerWallace,
A new OEM crank pulley would go for about $100-$130 from the dealership. If you do obtain a used pulley from a junk yard, it may still be in decent shape, but look for any chips or cracks. But if you can get a pulley for $65, be sure it meets OEM specs in size and design.
It's not a difficult job to replace a crank pulley, but it can be time consuming. The mechanic would need to remove all the drive belts, A/C tensioner, and timing belt covers. Look for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours in labor time. You can ask your mechanic for a labor rate and estimated time.
Good luck!
