QuestionI just installed a huge stereo system in my 1998 galant 2.4 es auto, and as soon as i turn on my lights it blows the same 10 amp fuse every time. My headlights and the brake lights work fine, just the dash and taillights are out. I have been trouble shooting for two days now so maybe you cangive me a hand thanks so much
AnswerDan,
It's pretty common for little fuses to get blown after the installation of stereo amps. You may have a poor ground or you're just drawing too much current through factory wires. Many stereos that I've seen installed using a factory 12V source (splicing into an existing wire) will cause fuses to blow. You may want to consider running a totally independent wire directly from your battery. 10-12 gauge wiring would be good.
But as a temporary fix, you can try replacing the 10amp fuse with a 15 amp fuse. That will allow more current to be drawn through the factory wiring. The dash lights also go out when when a tail light bulb has blown out. Check all your bulbs as well to be sure you don't have any blown tail light bulbs.
Good luck!
