Mitsubishi Repair: a/c, magnetic clutch, pressure gauge
Question2000,Mitsubishi,RS,hatchback,Auto.
My car a/c is not working and when I got the pressure test for it. It's in the Red zone "May have Mechanical Problems". I just wondering if you know how much it will cost to fix and what is wrong with it? Thank you
AnswerVinh,
Sometimes the A/C system from the factory will show extra high readings on a regular pressure gauge; I've noticed this in other Japanese cars like Hondas and Toyotas.
Your A/C may just not be kicking on due a worn magnetic clutch or bad relay. Getting that fixed should not cost too much. It's hard to even ball park a price, but might cost around $150 to fix if that's the problem. A more serious problem would be if the A/C compressor went bad. The parts and labor required to replace that may cost upwards of $800-$1000. But hopefully your compressor is fine. You can be sure of your system does not have a leak in it, since it's showing adequate pressure in the lines. Defintely get it checked out so you can be sure what the actual problem is.
Good luck!
