Mitsubishi Repair: Distributor, mitsubishi lancer 93, chevy malibu

i own a mitsubishi lancer 93(no E.Fuel.Inyection).i want to know how exactly does the ignition signal sensor and the ignition module works with the ignition coil.Because the original module and coil in my distributor where damaged and replaced with a bosch coil and a module from a chevy malibu.
