Mitsubishi Repair: brakes, milling machine, mitsubishi dealership
QuestionHi, just wanted to know what type of replacement brakes should I buy for my 2000 eclipse 3.0 v6? And do I need pads only or disks too. Thank you.
AnswerLior,
I would recommend calling a Mitsubishi dealership and ask them what brand of brakes they use on their 2000 Eclipses. Then, instead of buying the brakes from them, find a local auto parts store that sells those same brakes. PepBoys, AutoZone, and Advanced Auto are all good auto parts store that carry many of the same brands the dealerships do; but at a fraction of the cost.
When you replace your pads, it's good to have the rotors (disks) inspected. Many times, a garage can just "machine" or "turn" them. That means that they just take off your rotors, smooth them out with a milling machine, then re-install them. New rotors can be anywhere from $40-$100 a piece. That's a lot of money. If they are not bad, save yourself some money and just have them machined.
Good luck!
