CDI Unit   Hello Troy,

I assume you are referring to the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Igniter).
It is the heart of the ignition system. It takes a signal from the crankshaft, "calculates" ignition advance, based on various factors such as RPM, transmission gear and throttle opening and gives a signal (pulse) to the ignition coil(s).
