QuestionAfter running for approximately 10 minutes the carburators become overloaded and dump fuel into the air filter box.
I just rebuilt the carbs and replaced all of the cracked and worn vacuum line hoses.
AnswerHi Jim,
There are a few things that cause this problem.
One is worn float needles and the needle seat.
Two is float levels set too high so the float needles
do not shut the fuel off soon enough to prevent
fuel flooding.
Third thing is plugged gas cap causing pressure
buildup in the tank and fuel lines.
Some carbs have orings under the float valves that can
leak even when the float needle is okay.
Carb air vents must also be open to the atmosphere
Watch for improper hose connections to the float bowl.
The bowl overflows must be down and open also to the
atmosphere.
Let me know what you find
