QuestionMy Goldwing quits running after about 10 minutes. If it sits for about 30, it will start again only to quit in about 10-15 minutes. This bike sat for 2 years unridden before I purchased it. Runs great when running but can't keep it running. When quits all other electrical seems to work okay. Will backfire if I try to start immediately after stopping. Must sit 10-15 min. before starting again.
AnswerHi Larry,
A backfire can be a sign of a lean fuel supply.
If your fuel pump flow seems okay then it
could be the fuel pump relay acting up.
Follow the blue/yellow wire up from the pump to
find the relay, it is near the ignition coils
I believe.
If your spark seems to be acting up then
it might be the ignition pulse generator coils
at the front of the engine in the timing
belt area. They should pulse a very low voltage,
like 0.1 or 0.2 or so.
If the bike has a fuel filter that might also
be a suspect.
Good luck!
